Target Audience
The course is designed personnel involved into transportation process of radiation material who require a good general knowledge about radiation protection and safety.
Course Aim
The aim of the Course is to familiarize participants with radiation health physics and radiation protection program and to teach them how to define types of radiation and protection principles, will be able to practice safety procedures in a workplace.
This course is designed according to the requirements of FANR and International Atomic Energy Agency.
Course Content
This course covers the basic awareness, fundamentals and principles of non-ionizing and ionizing radiation, radiation protection principles (ALARA), security of radioactive material during transportation/shipping, the usage of dosimeters and the actions in emergency situations through the following topics:
- Review of radiation fundamentals
- Basic requirement for radioactive material transportation
- Security of radioactive material during transportation
- Shipping concerns
- Dose limits
- Measuring radiation
- Emergencies
Competency Assessment
Participants are required to pass an assessment (written examination) at the end of this course.
Prerequisites
Education of Basic Level corresponding to 6–10 years of schooling, Communication Skills in English, analytical skills, human-machine interface skills.
Method of Training
Trainees will learn by active participation in live enthusiastic and interesting activities using Live tools and interactive techniques through different scenarios. This training is provided using SEALED RADIOACTIVE SOURCES.
